James Barnor

Patron of the Arts:  ARTification is honoured that Pioneering photographer, James Barnor, is our longstanding Patron.  Since we first met in 2002, James exhibited his iconic photographs at the first Acton Visual Arts exhibition in 2003, remaining a supporter.  Since then, his work has reached new heights and James is now recognised as a trailblazer.

Goldfinches

Public art by ATM. Goldfinch mural at W3 Studio in North Acton Playing Fields.

ATM spoke of the piece: "Goldfinches were chosen as a subject by local residents because they are such a popular bird in the area. Local people stopped a smuggling ring for goldfinches, which were being illegally trapped in the park and playing fields for sale. That was a big success and shows what a good effect residents can have when they are aware and intervene."

The official unveiling took place on 28/10/23.  A lovely gathering at ARTi's W3 Venue with creatives, residents, supporters,…

Place/Space & Walking Art.
Gathering where we enjoyed some fascinating discussions, playful interactions, and connection with interesting people.

Place/Space & Walking Art:     Applied Sociology through Art field-researcher Evgenia Kritikou will introduce you to the concept of walking art, the binary opposition of the terms place and space and how connections between the above can affect our sense of belonging. Together we will discuss a walker's immediate experience of the environment, from the aimless wandering of Baudelaire's flaneur to contemporary peripatetic artist's practices in connection with global issues such as migration and climate change. By reflecting on our own experiences and views on walking, we will discuss…
