Yousif Naser biography & work

One constant theme evident in Yousif's numerous, paintings and drawings is the suffering of Iraq and the pain of exile. His largest project Black Rain is an ongoing undertaking, which began as a painting project during the build up to the 2003 invasion of Iraq. It quickly acquired momentum and generated much local media coverage. Gradually it evolved into a a series of paintings comprising of multi-and-single media works, ranging from gigantic canvases to small drawings, collages and paintings, all inspired by the horrors of war.

I am an artist passionate about many fields of art, but I mainly deal with oil painting and creating copper jewelry. My inspiration is nature, through the world of plants, animals and landscapes. In my works, I sometimes like to refer to impressionistic lights and colors, and sometimes I want to create decorative fairy-tale worlds. When creating jewelry, I am inspired by the raw patterns of primitive old cultures.

Bio: Sarah has worked in the creative industries for 14+ years as a freelance graphic designer, and has now expanded into the area of arts facilitation.

Sarah’s involvement with collective arts creation was stirred most recently while creating a mural at local mental health charity MindFood, and she went on to be a co-founder of Welcome Create, a community art group at Pitzhanger Manor & Gallery.

She enjoys working with all ages, and values listening to the needs and desires of those involved to co-produce ideas, creating a sense of learning via exploration and peer-to-peer interactions, connection and increased self-confidence.

I’m a multidisciplinary artist driven by a deep need to express, heal, and tell stories that often go unheard. My journey began in architecture and design, but over time, I realised that my true voice lived in the space where art meets emotion—where personal and collective histories collide.

My work is rooted in identity, faith, and memory. I create to reflect on who we are, where we come from, and what we carry—whether joy, pain, tradition, or resilience. One of my most personal pieces, The Blood-Stained Child, was born from a place of sorrow and confrontation. It's a raw and unfiltered response to the violence I’ve witnessed in my community—an image of innocence caught in chaos. It hurt to make, but it had to be made. That piece helped me grieve, helped me pray, and reminded me why I create in the first place: to process pain, to provoke thought, and to call for peace.

Much of my work, including More Love, Less War, seeks to bridge divides—ethnic, religious, generational. I draw from my Nigerian heritage, using symbols, colors, and textures that hold weight and meaning, but I also reinterpret them through a modern lens. I want my art to feel both ancestral and alive—tied to the past but speaking clearly to today.

Whether I’m working with digital media, string, textiles, or paint, I approach every project with the same intention: to stir something real. I believe art has the power to build empathy, to challenge injustice, and to heal. For me, this isn’t just about aesthetics—it’s about presence, purpose, and pushing through silence with something that speaks.

As an Eco-artivist, 'Rubbish artist,' and mosaicist, I pioneer sustainable art, creating works entirely from waste and with the minimum possible environmental impact.

Haunted by mankind’s imminent self-destruction, I believe in systemic re-thinking. Each tessera I create is a protest against our disposable lifestyle.

My commitment to sustainability encompasses every aspect of my life, from veganism to renewables, second-hand clothes, and not flying.

Formerly a City solicitor, I graduated with distinction from LSoM in 2019, where I also lectured Fabrication. Internationally, I exhibited in 100+ venues, was published in 90+ articles and textbooks, and won 20+ awards. I ama member of the Insights Of An EcoArtist community (IOAEA), the By/Design collective, Act for Ealing, BAMM, Heritage Crafts, VAA and Mensa.

I am the founder of Payment in Kind(ness)© (accepting eco-friendly actions as payment towards my artwork) and of ArtforTrash© (creating artwork with the clients’ own waste). I donates 10% of any ArtforTrash commission to Neptune's Pirates (or other environmental charities), and I run pro-bono projects on eco-awareness.

I amnow on retainer with the Institute of Marine Sciences in Venice for the next few years.

Irish muralist, portraitist & street artist, based in New Cross, Southeast London. Shauna’s visual arts practice is grounded in figuration and reflects how self-definition is informed by place. She is interested in questions of unreliable memories, collective social identity, and inter-dependence.

She has recently begun a series of ethereal portraits of women and girls interacting with light, both a visual investigation of the playfulness of light on a figure and a symbolic gesture recognising how painting in a community of women brought sparked a new energy in her artistic practice. She is also experimenting with geometry, 3D-space and optical illusion work.

Lily Mixe is a graphic artist originating from Paris who has now based herself within the creative hot bed of London, UK.
Lily?s artwork moves from paper and canvas, found objects and onto the surface of walls in the street.

At the centre of the work is Nature and in particular the Ocean. The subjects are otherworldly, aliens from our own planet. Specimens that offer reminders of how beautiful and complex life on Earth can be and how much of our own planet is unknown and undiscovered.

Inspired by numerous diving expeditions, and hundreds of notebooks and studies of animals and plants, the work is both familiar and unusual. Lily states, ?The work examines life under the surface, the incredible unseen, silent beings we take for granted. I want to give a visual voice to the natural world. I want to celebrate nature in the same way we value precious stones and rare artefacts, I place nature as the highest currency on planet earth?

Lily?s work mutates. It starts as a sketch, it builds and becomes a form, filling and layering textures and patterns that give it a life of its own. The art lives in books, on paper, found objects and ultimately become fully realised when added to the landscape; pasted to bricks and cement, continuing to change over time, changing with the weather, with plants, pollution, graffiti.

The work really starts to take shape once lily walks away. Making the art is only half of the process, placement of the piece is key to its completion, the transient and brutal spirit of nature frames the work, pasting drawings to a wall is an offering, and a sacrifice, an experiment, to see the drawings grow, change, and often be destroyed by the environment and time.

I am a London Based multidisciplinary artist, whose work stems from a strong figurative drawing practice. I work in the studio on oil paintings and charcoal drawings, interested in capturing movement and often working from dance and theatre performances. I also paint bright vibrant murals using spray paint on exterior walls under the name Mimi Murals. I am part of WOM Collective and have been commissioned by The Lyric Theatre, Rights Respecting, Longs and collaborated with projects supported by MyMurals.
